I need a spare key! We do Car Key Cutting
YES YOU DO! You must have a spare key for your vehicle now. A spare key is usually much easier to make if you have a current working one. Just because you have been quoted the earth, does not mean you need to spend that sort of money to stay out of trouble. We can give you options to suit whether or not you have two people that need full use, or we can make emergency keys that get you out of trouble if you lost yours for a fraction of the price for a full remote or proximity key.
Different types of automotive keys
We structure most automotive keys into 4 main categories :
- Mechanical keys - This covers most vehicles up to the age of 1997. These keys are simply just a plain metal profile which is cut to suit the lock internals. These can often be made for as little as $15 each.
- Transponder keys - Transponder immobiliser / immobilizer keys are often confused with remotes. These keys are simply just a mechanical key with a small electronic unit fitted to the head of the key. This electronic part can not be bypassed easily. It is an anti-theft device fitted to almost all European market vehicles, since 1995, and around 70% of all vehicles manufactured in japan since 1997.
- Proximity keys - Proximity keys are easily described as small box's or "keyless keys". These keys do not require being inserted into an ignition lock, or into a slot to start the vehicle and will start the vehicles if they are inside or within "proximity".
- Fobik keys - These keys are usually still inserted into a slot, but normally don't have a metal blade as such, and rather than being inserted into a keyhole and turning, they rather plug in and twist. They are commonly seen on Volvo, Mercedes, Dodge, Chrysler and jeep.
My locks are broken, my ignition is jammed, I'm stuck and my car won't start!
Lock repairs! We hear about these every day! We specialise in getting you back on the road ASAP. Most of our service calls have your car up and running within minutes, not days. The most common problems we see everyday and have become super efficient in are Toyota ignition locks jamming (mainly from 1993 up until 2005), Volkswagen, VW, Audi, Skoda Ignition locks jamming, Nissan and Mazda ignition locks jamming. We also see alot of Toyota door locks and boot locks jamming, BMW door locks and ignition locks spinning freely without unlocking and we do alot of holden igntions, especially 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. We see at least two or three Honda ignition and door locks every week, they get stuck from the keys being worn out. We can come to you, rebuild the inside of your existing locks, cut some more keys and even make you a new remote if needed. All at a fraction of the cost of taking it to a mechanic, because we come to you! These honda igniton repairs can sometimes be as cheap as $150 on site, dependant on the state of the lock internals and keys.
I've lost all my keys!
Well at least you have found us! We specialize in situations where all keys have been lost, and often we can travel to the vehicle on the same day to make you new keys to start the car to save the cost of towing. Towing can sometimes be tricky due to tight driveways or vehicles with expensive electronics where you wouldn't want to risk damage to drive-trains or worse. We can come out to the vehicle, often decode the locks and provide keys without having to pull the car apart at all! We have invested in very reliable modern machinery to make your lost key situation less stressful, less expensive and most of importantly can get you and your vehicle back on the road in no time. If we cannot get keys programmed into your vehicle, and you call us first on the scene, we will not charge a programming cost until we see a result. This is our way of showing we are capable and don't expect to be paid for time spent at no advantage to our customers. You don't need a working transponder key to have us program in a new one.
Can you program a key I already have ?
Of course we can! Transponder keys can be expensive. Which means we see alot of our customers purchasing their own transponder keys and asking us to program them. We have no problem doing this, but you need to be sure before purchasing keys online as to whether or not they will suit your vehicle. There are many types of frequency keys including 315mhz 433mhz 434mhz and 868mhz that all look the same, Even if your key looks the same and is the same frequency there is still a chance its the incorrect part. We will do our best to match up your old key, and if we cannot we can give you pricing on the spot of the correct key for your vehicle. We do a lot of key programming for vehicles when keys have been lost and found again. Some vehicles have multiple optional remotes, so as long as your remote or key is fit for your vehicle, we can program it no problem. A lot of second hand car keys will not reprogram to another car, this is because once a key is programmed to a car its often "locked" to that vehicle. These keys must be unlocked before they can be programmed to another car.
