At Lock n Code, we offer a wide variety of skills tailored to the residential market. We do our very best never to say "no" to a job or a customer. Our aim is to provide the people of Canterbury with a more affordable solution to electronic and mechanical residential lock hardware. We don't just work with door locks on timber we deal with aluminium doors, sliding doors and all sorts of architectural hardware. The best part about our service is we are 100% mobile and we come to you. This means less overheads for ourselves and we can pass the savings on to our customers. We have no callout fee, we only charge a flat rate travel per KM to get to you.

If your door lock is loose, faulty or not working as it used to we are capable of repairing or replacing it. We carry a wide range of product in stock, and if we have not got what you need we can definitely come up with a viable solution on the spot.
Different types of Residential keys
We structure most residential keys into 3 main categories :
- Mortise or skeleton keys - This covers most locks made up until around the 1970's, they are usually a long flag shaped key, with a round shaft and a flat blade on the tip. These locks are usually fitted into the center of the door and the key goes through the timber into the door, however some rim locks were fitted on the inside of old laundry doors.
- Cylindrical keys - This covers most mechanical keys on today's market, being much smaller than mortise or rim keys, they have a smaller head usually with teeth like cuts on the top or both sides of the key. These keys go into a round barrel style cylinder in the lock.
- Proximity keys, Fobs, Swipes or Tags - These terms refer to locks that don't usually use pins or conventional locking methods. They often use electric coils or magnets.
Can you rekey a lock to suit a key I already have?
Of course we can! We do a lot of re-keying on domestic and commercial properties. Whether you've had a flatmate leave, a burglary or need to invoice your insurance. We can help today. We can also work on your car while we are on site if you need something sorted if you have lost car keys too.
I've lost all my garage remotes, or need a spare.
Our mobile garage locksmiths can come to your house and program new garage door remotes in whether you have a working one or not. Some makes and models of garage door openers and remotes are no longer available. In this instance we can supply and install a secondary aftermarket remote receiver kit that can not only give you a remote for your garage, but even make one remote work on your gate or another garage too. This can be a much more cost effective way of replacing lost garage door or gate remotes and keys.
